I agree with much of your thesis, but let's correct a few things. Your opening paragraph refers to birth stories in all four of the canonical gospels. Only Matthew and Luke contain such stories, not Mark and John. Later you refer again to a birth story on John, but I think you probably meant his quip about needing to be born again.
