HR Holidays Song

If retailers can put out their Christmas decorations a month before Halloween (yes, I’m thinking of you, Costco), then I guess it’s time to trot out this holiday classic so that employees have time to rehearse it in preparation for the company parties. Smaller organizations might miss the significance of a few references, but employees at large companies and government agencies will catch them all.

Comfort and Joy

By Patrick W. Andersen

God rest ye merry gentlemen, let nothing ye dismay

Our friends from Human Resources have come to save the day

With paperwork and laws and rules and ways to earn our pay

(Chorus)

O tidings of comfort and joy, comfort and joy!

O tidings of comfort and joy

I took the test, I interviewed, I pleaded and I lied

I made the list and got first rank and I was certified

“When can you start?” I skipped a heart! I broke right down and cried

(Chorus)

When I had cleared the background check, I felt fuzzy and warm

My supervisor said to me, “You must fill out some forms”
