Excellent article. Critics of my own novel, Acts of the Women, asked why I omitted Martha and conflated Mary the Migdal with Mary of Bethany. Also, why did I credit women for giving birth to what became Christianity? My response: Men gave speeches and wrote history books about their own noble deeds, but women did most of the work.
